Welcome to my Volvo "282" Web site.

In the spring 1987, I visited FHRA's American Car Show in Helsinki. As always there was a lot of great cars on show. Besides there was one car over all from Sweden, what catch my eyes. (Look like all the great things comes from Sweden. Doh! we have still Nokia... What Ericsson)It was really fine customized Volvo 240, picture below.

Inspiration of my project

I don't mind, must make my own. Unfortunately our legislation in Finland was quite a tight, for example We can't make that kind of fencing in front of headlights. But lets look what we generate.

Fatal movement.

To the slide, not more than top speed.

Would it convertible be cool.

We seems to have some fitting problems.

On the job.

Some ready welding works.

New shape of C-pillar, just tinned.

C-pillar from the inside.

Some priming and checking the straightness.

In this stage it didn't look so good.

3 development stage of windscreen. Shaped plywood board, shaped band iron, ready windscreen.

In the priming paint. That tail lights are from Moskvitsh.

Many thanks to Jouko for borrowing his garage.

But what? Why "Sampy" helps me make two exhaust manifolds...

One for right side...

The steering shaft fitted between the block and exhaust manifolds.

And one for left side...

There is a slightly wider.

Yes, there was installed V8 motor, SD1 from Rover.

Shaved, nothing additional.

If the taillights are from Russia, the headlights are like American export model.

That time it was cool to hang up 16V character. Why not, although without multivalve technology.
