Mary Magdalene legends and myths

During time there has been spread many legends and myths about Mary Magdalene. Those legends and myths are untrue. In this writing, I bring out some legends, which are lies and twisted information. Evidence of the Bible cancels all untrue lies about Mary Magdalene.

Mary Magdalene wasn't Jesus' wife

Legends and myths are telling that Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ had a sexual relationship, and that they would be married. This claim is a lie. This untrue legend has been borne by gnostic "gospels".

Untrue information

In gnostic "gospels" have been told falsely about Mary Magdalene relationship to Jesus Christ:

Gospel of Philip verse 36:There were three who always walked with the Lord: Mary, his mother, and her sister, and Magdalene, the one who was called his companion. His sister and his mother and his companion were each a Mary.

The companion word is in the Greek version (gospel of Philip) koinonos, which means partaker, partner, fellowship, companion. In Septuagint (Greek OT) in the book of Malachi are used word koinonos to mean a wife. Purpose of the gospel of Philip was trying to prove that Mary Magdalene would be Jesus' wife. Why gospel of Philip tells that Mary Magdalene was Jesus' wife? We can find an answer from gnosticism, which borne gnostic gospels.

Gnosticism

Many syncretistic religions formed gnosticism. Gnosticism was rivaling against Christianity and gnosticism held itself better religion as Christianity was. Word gnosticism comes from Greek word gnosis, which means knowledge. Gnosticism had various effects, for instance, some Gnostics taught that divinity can be achieved through unity of the man and woman. This thought led some Gnostics to reach for divinity through sexual intercourse between the man and woman. There existed also some Gnostics, who abstained from sexual intercourse. When we know the fact that Gnostics held Christians as their enemies and that Gnostics held themselves better as Christians and that Gnostics wanted to show in every way that Gnosticism was better as Christianity, so Gnostics made so called gnostic gospels were they twisted, slandered and misrepresented the real gospels. Gnostics went so far in this misrepresent that they wrote "new gospels" by faking the real gospels. In these faked gospels Gnostics wrote that Jesus Christ was an ordinary man who has a sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene.

This evil claim that Mary Magdalene would be Jesus' wife suited to Gnostics, because Gnostics tried to prove that their belief was better as Christian faith. So they made up doctrine about Jesus, who was married with Mary Magdalene. With these evil claim Gnostics made Jesus as an ordinary man and Gnostics try to undress Godhead of Jesus by this evil claim. The thought about marriage of Jesus Christ and sexual intercourse with Jesus and Mary Magdalene is gnostic gospel, which is spurious and faked gospel and not the real Gospel. There was among Gnostic people some who abstained from sexual intercourse and so Gnostics said that also Jesus spent depraved and sinful life. So Gnostic gospels have been born and these faked gospels were public letters with whose help Gnostics attacked against Christians. Gnostics invented a cunning plot to slander and defame Christians and attack against the truth of the word of God. Inspiration of Gnostic texts is in the headquarter of the darkness. The real truth about Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene can be found from the Bible. The Bible doesn't tell that Jesus was married, because Jesus was not married, and He wasn't an ordinary man, because He is the Son of Living God. Jesus Christ came to this world to die for the sake of sinners and atone sins of those people who repent their sins and believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and the Saviour.

Gnostic texts have also these features where Gnostics set themselves higher position as Christians and Gnostics didn't believe that Jesus was God. Preceding points prove that gnostic Apocrypha texts have not any Biblical and truthful values. Gnostics made their gospels for the reason that they wanted to prove the faith of Christians and the Bible for incorrect. Gnostics wanted to emphasize their beliefs through their faked gospels, and they kept Christians as their enemies. Gnostic texts are not original and true gospels, but faked gospels. By Gnostic texts cannot prove Biblical matters, because Gnostic texts have been written in evil purpose to twist the truth of the Bible and defame Jesus Christ.

The Early Church didn't hold Gnostic gospels as Biblical, because they are not canonical, and they are not the word of God, but faked gospels. Gospel of Mary born about two hundred century later as Biblical gospels and about four hundred century later appeared the new version where position of women as disciples were changed. Gospel of Mary is Gnostic apocrypha text, and it has not any Biblical prestige. Gospel of Philip was written between 150 AD and 300 AD and when apostle Philip died 80 AD, so he didn't write this faked gospel. Gospel of Philip is Gnostic text and faked gospel. Gnostic gospels have not Biblical prestige, and therefore, we have to abandon messages of Gnostic gospels, because they are faked and have misrepresented gospel messages.

Gnostic gospels were as proganda texts, written in purpose to defame and slander Christians and the truth of the Bible. Gnostics tried to prove that they were better religion as Christians believe to Jesus Christ. For example, gospel of Philip describes Jesus' as an ordinary man, not Son of God, but an ordinary man who has sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene. Teachings of Gnostic gospels are blasphemy. Purpose of Gnostic texts was to create an untruthful picture about Jesus Christ. Gnosticism is deception, which twists position of Jesus Christ. Generally, all deceptions try to twist position of Jesus Christ and try to say that Jesus wasn't the Son of God and not the Saviour, but an ordinary man. Gnosticism is not exception in this kind of deception, because Gnosticism tries to also cancel Jesus' position as the Son of God.

The seed of Gnosticism has been existed for a long time, and have been waiting the time to rise to deceive the mankind. Last days people are slaves of sexual lusts and for these reason devils try to deceive the mankind with an old Gnostic lie that Jesus would have sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene. Last days people fall easily to this kind of deception, because they are slaves of sexual lusts, and they have not loved for the truth.

Catholics killed Gnostics, because they kept them as heretic sect. Killing is a sin against God and the man. Roman Catholic Church is not church of God, but faked picture about church of God. So the real Christians who love God and Jesus Christ didn't kill and murder Gnostics, but a faked church institution (Romen Catholic Church). Link: Roots of the catholic church and pope

So the real Christians Jesus' disciples didn't kill Gnostics, but faked church organisation. We have to separate faked church organisation and the real body of Christ. The real Jesus' disciples can't take part in murdering and killing.

Apostle Paul didn't accept gnosticism

1 Tim 6:
20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

Paul used in verse 20 two Greek words, which are gnosis (science) and pseudonumos (falsely). Pseudonumos means falsely so called and falsely named. Gnosis means knowledge and science. Gnosticism effected already in the Early Church, because apostle Paul warned to reject falsely knowledge (gnosis). Word opposition is in Greek antithesis, which means opposition, that which is opposed. Apostle Paul said that these profane persons are spreading falsely knowledge (gnosis), because they were speaking opposite and faked gospel. Gnosticism is an opposite and faked gospel to the Biblical gospel. Gnosticism created its own faked picture about Biblical gospels. Apostle Paul said that some Jesus' disciples have erred to this faked gospel. Apostle Paul also said that those who have erred have also erred depart away from the real faith in Jesus Christ.

Gnosticism effected already in the time of the Early Church, but Early Church believers rejected gnostic thoughts as heretic doctrines, which are profane deception. Some people have said that apostle Paul was pleased and taught gnostic thoughts, but as we can see from the Bible, so apostle Paul rejected all kinds of gnosticism as profane and heretically deception.

Evil and satanic lie works very often in such a way that when someone believes to the truth of the Bible and in Jesus Christ, so in his lifetime his opponents held him as their enemy, but when he dies, so his opponents make him as one of them. Preceding activity is really devilish and satanic action, and many times opponents of the truth of the Bible has worked. These devilish opponents twist words and actions of real believers and say that actually he was same opinion as they were. Behind of this devilish activity is this because they can't win him in his lifetime so after his death, they say that he was one of them. This is devilish infiltration were ungodly and profane people are twisting, for example, what apostle Paul really taught and believed. This devilish lie thinks that it can win the truth, but in the end the truth shall win all lies and wrongdoers shall be doomed according to their evil deeds.

Jesus has not sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene

Mary Magdalene was not Jesus' wife and Jesus Christ has not sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene. A previous type of claims is propaganda and twisting of sinful lies, which is totally wrong information.

A lie distorts the gospel of John

Some people try to prove by the text of the Bible that Mary Magdalene was Jesus' wife.

John 19:
25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Luke 23:49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

Falsely information tells that Mary Magdalene was that disciple whom Jesus loved. But, the Bible cancels this information. Near by the cross of Jesus stood all His acquaintance (also disciples), His mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas and Mary Magdalene. Jesus Christ hung on the cross and looked to His mother and the disciple standing by and said: "Woman, behold your son!". Words of Jesus expose to us that into question wasn't a woman (Mary Magdalene), but a man, who was the disciple John. Some people don't like the truth of the bible and for this reason they say that Mary Magdalene's and Jesus' relationship was concealed and for this reason Jesus said that your son. This claim is naive by which deceived person try to sustain those misleading scenes, which he has built to himself.

The gospel of John proves that the disciple whom Jesus loved was John the son of Zebedee and not Mary Magdalene:

John 21:
20 ¶ Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

In verse 20 Peter saw the disciple whom Jesus loved and in verse 21 Peter said to Jesus: "What shall this man do?". Peter meant by this man the disciple whom Jesus loved. In verse 21 is Greek word houtos, which is nominative masculine single. Into question is a man, not a woman. In verse 24 John who wrote this gospel exposes that who is the person whom Jesus loved and in this verse John says that the disciple whom Jesus loved is he who has written these things. John himself wrote the gospel of John. So John is the disciple whom Jesus loved, not Mary Magdalene.

The account of the Bible is perfect and waterproof that Mary Magdalene was not the person in the gospel of John, whom Jesus loved, because the Bible tells that it was John the son of Zebedee. Saying whom Jesus loved didn't mean sexual love, but love of God by which Jesus loved John. Of course Jesus Christ loved by love of God all His disciples and saying the disciple whom Jesus loved described that John has a right kind of temperament and heart as Jesus' disciple. Mary Magdalene wasn't Jesus' wife. Claims and narrations that Mary Magdalene would be Jesus' wife are untrue accounts.

Distorted claims that Jesus was married

Some people say that Jews leaders and teachers (rabbis) must be in the marriage and when Jesus Christ was called as rabbi, so He must be married. We must remember that Jesus Christ was not officially Jewish rabbi, because He wasn't rabbi in the Jewish religion system. Jesus Christ was teacher anointed by God and not carried out Jewish religion rabbi education. Jesus Christ was not married.

Some people say that all Jew men must be married at the time of Jesus Christ. However, this is not truth, because also apostle Paul was unmarried: 1Co 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

Marriage in Cana of Galilee

Joh 2:
1 ¶ And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

Some people believe that wedding in Cana was wedding of Jesus' and Mary Magdalene. However, the Bible cancels this, because in verse 2 is told that Jesus and His disciples were called to wedding. In verse 2 called word is in Greek kaleo, which means to call and to invite. The Bible uses Jesus and His disciples' word called (kaleo), because they all were called (invited) as guests in these weddings. So Jesus was not married and wedding in Cana was not wedding ceremony of Jesus Christ.

Occultists secret societies

Occultists secret societies are feeding untrue legend about Jesus' marriage with Mary Magdalene. These occultist societies believe that Gnostic gospels are "secret gospels", which have been hidden for centuries. These members of occultists societies believe that after Jesus' death Mary Magdalene escaped to France. They believe that in France Mary and her common child with Jesus continued their life as descendants of royal bloodline. This legend tells also about holy grail, which has been said to be the cup in the last supper. Certain legend tells that holy grail (the cup) would be stored the blood of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. This legend increase as bun dough and some version says that holy graal is Mary Magdalene's and Jesus' child.

Preceding legends are fairytales and untrue information. These occultist societies can prepare such operation where they say that some person is descendant of Jesus Christ and descendant of king David. At least antichrist must "prove" to the Jews that he is descendant of king David, because the Messiah must be descendant of king David.

When the temple of Jerusalem destroyed in year 70 AD. so then all genealogies was destroyed. Destroying of genealogies prove that the Messiah must come before year 70 AD. Jesus' contemporaries gave a testimony that Jesus Christ is descendant of king David: Matt 15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

In addition, genealogies of the Bible prove that Jesus is descendant of king David.

Jesus Christ came to the world first time in the beginning of our calendar and died and rose to the right side of His Father (God) about 33 AD. The Lord Jesus Christ comes soon second time to the world. No one can't prove that he is the Messiah except Jesus Christ, because Jesus Christ is the Messiah.

Legends about Mary Magdalene are antichristian and perhaps some occultists secret societies try to prove that some person is Jesus Christ. But he is antichrist and not descendant of Jesus, because Jesus Christ wasn't married and have not relationship to Mary Magdalene and have not any descendants.

Mary Magdalene was not the leader of the Early Church

Gnostic gospels are twisting position of Mary Magdalene and set her as leader of the Early Church. Nowadays, many supporters of gnostic gospels believe that Mary Magdalene was the leader in the Early Church. They believe that when Mary went first to tomb of Jesus Christ and told first about resurrection, so she must be the leader. They believe also that when Mary Magdalene was mentioned first among witnesses of resurrection, so she must be the leader. We have seen already earlier that gnostic gospels are faked gospels and for this reason I cancel claims about Mary Magdalene wrong position by the evidence of the Bible.

The first and interesting observation is that the New Testament doesn't tell about Mary Magdalene elsewhere but in four gospels. If Mary Magdalene would be the leader of the Early Church, so sure apostles Paul, Peter, John and James would have told about it or mentioned her, but don't tell anything about her in their letters.

John 20:
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

This place doesn't make Mary Magdalene as the leader of the Early Church. Why Jesus Christ chose to appear and talk after His death to Mary Magdalene? Answer is quite easy, because the disciples noticed that the tomb was empty, and they went to theirs home, but Mary Magdalene stay and stood at the empty tomb and wept. For this reason angels and the Lord Jesus Christ appeared first to her. This also a great and awesome testimony that Jesus Christ holds women and men equally important and valuable.

The woman can't be leader in the congregation (the shepherd)

The New Testament teaches really clearly that women can't be leaders (shepherds) in the congregation:

1Tim 3:2 A bishop (episkopos) then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

Acts 20:
17 ¶ And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church. ....
28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers (episkopos), to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

The Bible teaches that bishop (episkopos) are the same ministry as leaders and shepherds and the Bible also teaches that one man can't lead the local congregation, but a group of men, who are shepherds and leaders.

Book The Jesus Family Tomb published in February 2007. Document film The Lost Tomb of Jesus presented in American Discovery-channel 4 March 2007. Both the book and the film told that the family tomb of Jesus was found and among the discoveries were Mary Magdalene's ossuary: Mariamene e Mara, ossuary 80/500: The Lost Tomb of Jesus. The book and the film said that Mariamene is Greek and Mara Aramaic, and it means Mary known as the master. The book and the film tod that in Gnostic gospels Mary Magdalene was called by the name Mariamne. On this argument, some believe that Mary Magdalene was the leader of the Early Church and Jesus' wife.

However, clear facts show that conclusions of the document film and the book are erroneous. The Bible shows them as erroneous and also some experts. Amos Kloner professor of archaeology at Israel's Bar-Ilan University has examined tomb discoveries 1980, and he said that writings in ossuaries are too unclear, and they don't fill standards of archeological research, but as sensation, they bring money to those who present these claims. Stephen Pfann, president of Jerusalem's University of the Holy Land and an expert in Semitic languages said that Mariamene should read as Mariame and Martha. Pfann thinks that to this ossuary has put bones of two different persons, in which other one have later added into ossuary. Document says that Mary Magdalene's ossuary read Mariamne known as the master (teacher/rabbi). Their claim exposes that it is a lie, because in Jewish religion and culture wasn't female teachers (rabbi) and have never been. Jews were very strict that in their religion and culture men were only rabbis and not women. It is impossible that Mary Magdalene would be a master (teacher/rabbi). Stephen Pfann expert in Semitic languages has said that in ossuary reads Mariame and Martha. This also proves that document makers claims are wrong and misleading.

Matt 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

Matt 23:10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

The old covenant has come to its end, and for this reason the Lord Jesus Christ wanted to give new meaning and content to the New Covenant Bible teachers. Jesus Christ denied that His disciples can't call none by the name rabbi/master. This is also proving that Mary Magdalene couldn't be the leader of the Early Church and that Stephen Pfann was right and real text in the ossuary was Mariame and Martha.

The Bible doesn't say that Mary Magdalene was the harlot

The Bible doesn't say that Mary Magdalene was the harlot, but the tradition says so.

Epilogue

Evil devils and satan have deceived mankind through the history. Untrue information about Mary Magdalene is also the deception. The truth shall in the end win all lies. If you don't believe in Jesus Christ and the truth of the Bible, so confess your sins to God and believe in your heart that Jesus is the Lord, the Messiah and the Saviour, and so you shall be saved.
