The Plane was shot down by german fighter (
Fw. Heinz Halstrick from 13. /JG 5) flying white 5, FW 190F-8
fighter.
Russians was on the flight to destroy ships
of German convoy. At that time 13./JG 5 was stationed Berlevåg airfield
Shortly after take off Halstrick shot down
Douglas Boston bomber.
Three of four members of the Douglas managed
to bail out and reached later own advancing troops
Pilot of the plane died while trying to make
emergency landing. "Boston" bomber hit the ground very hard

Saksalainen hävittäjä ampui koneen
alas Berlevågin alueella. 13./JG tukeutui tällöin perääntymisvaiheessa
Berlevågin kenttään
Saksalaiskoneen lentäjänä toimi
Heinz Halstrick lentäen valkoisella 5:lla FW-190 F-8 hävittäjällä Pian
hälytysstartin jälkeen sai osumia Bostonin
moottoriin haavoittaen samalla
koneen ohjaaja. Muut onnistuivat hyppäämään koneesta, ohjaaja yritti tehdä
pakkolaskua, epäonnistuen siinä
koneen tuhoutuessa täysin.
Paikalliset saivat ruumiin vedettyä koneesta ennekuin se olisi palanut koneen
mukana.
Paikalla vuonna 1995 runsaasti osia
jäljellä tien läheisyydestä huolimatta.
