PETLJAKOV PE-2
Tankavaara, Vuotso Finland

Pe-2 was flying along the
road coming from north. Obviously purpose to attack towards germans
constructionwork at Tankavaara.
German AA-fire shot it
rapidly down. It was shot down by III./5./gem Flakabteilung 425.
Pe-2 got hit in the engine
and crashed immediately just beside the road. Two of the three men crew
managed to bale out. Only one parachute opened, so only one person of crew
survived becoming prisoner of war.

Pe-2 lensi
pohjoisesta tietä pitkin ja Tankavaaran kohdalla aikoi ilmeisesti hyökätä
linnoitustöitä vastaan.
Saksalainen
ilmatorjunta ampui koneen alas. Tulituksen suoritti III./5./gem Flakabteilung
425.
Lähes heti
tulituksen alettua kone sai osuman toiseen moottoriin ja kellahti alas ketoon
aivan nykyisen tien viereen.
Koneesta hyppäsi
kaksi miestä, kolmannen tuhoutuessa koneen mukana. Toisen laskuvarjohyppääjän
varjo ei auennut.
Ainoa hengissä selviytynyt joutui sotavangiksi.
