We -Aki and Pauliina - are both teachers and got
our first sheltie Viivi 1992. Our interest to breed and compete in
agility has developed over the years. We have had thirteen litters
(1997-2006) and now have five bitches and a male at home. The dogs are
living with us, we have no separate kennelroom for them.
We got our first sheltie when we were 24 years old and living in a
small village called Sievi. Aki has always had dogs at home and
Pauliina never. We came up rather quickly with sheltie because we liked
the way sheltie looks, its character and size. We visited
Jyväskylä and got the chance to meet two lovely
sheltieboys when we got to know Seija Sivonen and her dogs Napa and
Anselmi in Kortepohja student village. Seija gave us very good advice
and we found out that Vuokko had a litter near us in
Ylivieska. We went to see the puppies and reserved a bitch. Viivi moved
to us after Easter year 1993 and was the best dog ever! Aki
went to the military service for 8 months and Viivi kept company to
Pauliina. We took Viivi to a couple of shows and started
puppy school and agility with her. We wanted a show dog and reserved
one from Vuokko and Noora came to us just before the Christmas 1994.
Then we got jobs in Southern Finland and had to move there and little
by little we got interested in kennel activity and decided to start
breeding as well. Noora was done the health examinations and Pauliina
did a breeding course in autumn 1995. We got our kennelname -
Akiliinan (Akiliina's) - in January 1996. Our first litter
was born in November 1997. Sirkka-Liisa Metso from kennel Silimen was a
really great help from the beginning. We couldn't have done without
her. Many thanks to Sirkka! We want also thank Helena Tuomi (kennel
Riishill's) and Lea Piironen (kennel Snowglow's) for all their help and
advice in telephone. The co-operation with all the maleowners has been
good, thanks to them also!
At the moment, we have two dogs, two are our own, two from Marcella
Koenen from Holland and one from Ulla & Eva Eriksson, Sweden.
All the dogs are dear to us in their own way, maybe Viivi - the first one - has a
special spot in our hearts, we had som many nice moments with her. Of
course, we ant to take as good care as possible of our dogs. Annakaisa
comes to massage them once in a while and I have also taken a little
course in massaging. Agility is a tough sport for the dogs so that one
must take good care of the muscles.
We have had 17 litters and 46 puppies (2008). We have got many friends all over the
Finland and in Europe too but there has also been stressy moments, one
can't deny that. Our aim is to breed nice shelties for nice people and
we use only examined parents.
Our puppies are around 7-8 weeks when they leave us and they are
microchipped, and the eyes and health is examined by a special vet. We
have maximum 1-2 litters / year. All our pups are
naturally very important to us. We have an active contact with the
owners and we have visited all the pups in their new homes. All our
pups are welcomed for free to us if the owner has to travel
abroad etc if the timing suits us.
Our pups live in the living-room and kitchen where they get used to the
normal familylife. Our aim is to give as good starting points to our
pups as possible and we strive to give the moving to a new home as easy
as possible for both the owner and the puppy. |
